The 14621 Neighborhood Association says the responsibility lies not only on police, but also on the community to end the violence.

Residents and community leaders that live in the northeast side of Rochester are talking about the three shootings that all happened within the week. The 14621 Neighborhood Association says the responsibility lies not only on police, but also on the community to end the violence.

Ernest Flager grew up on the Northeast side of the city.

“When we look at the neighborhood itself, we look at boarded up houses, you see kids down the street, and they got nothing to do. It kind of bothers me,” Flagler said.

Flagler is the former board president of the 14621 Neighborhood Association.

“You get tired of hearing about all the violence in the neighborhood,” Flagler said; a neighborhood where Flagler says violence occurs daily.

“When you have drug addicts, kids, and gang members running around, you’re going to have problems,” Flagler said.

    So what’s your opinion…

These three young men are guilty until proven innocent. But we can’t help but notice they grew up in the same household and share the same last name. Do you think that their behavior- if proven guilty- is a result of how they were raised? Or do you believe that your parents/ guardians’ ability to raise children have little to do with kids’ poor decision making?
