• City girl charged with stabbing another girl in face, eye

    A Rochester teen accused of stabbing another girl in the face yesterday pleaded not guilty today in City Court.

    Elizabeth Jackson, 16, of Rugraff Street, was charged yesterday with first-degree assault, a felony, according to City Court documents. She is accused of walking up to a 16-year-old Rochester girl and stabbing her several times in the face and near her right eye.

    The incident occurred on a sidewalk near a store on Roycroft Drive about 9:15 p.m. yesterday. Several teenage girls walking with the victim witnessed the attack. After the stabbing, she apparently backed away and ran to a friend’s house.

    According to court records and the witnesses, the girls knew each other.

    The injured girl was taken to Rochester General Hospital and according to court records, will need to have surgery to reconstruct her eye.

    Jackson today was remanded to the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $8,000 cash bail or $24,000 bond. She is scheduled to return to court for her preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. Monday
